I was running a little late today morning. As usual my dh dropped me to the bus stop. We were waiting and looking forward to the big giant Volvo bus. Which finally seem to appear after about a minimum of 15 normal buses had passed. The bus seemed crowded, dh asked if I wanted to wait for another bus with seats, there wasn't anyore time left to waste so I boarded the bus not hoping for a seat. Fortunately I was smart enough to grab one seat in competition with another lady aiming for the same seat. I couldn't believe my capability to do the same. I felt a little embarrassed, but it just ended in seconds, when I saw that lady found another seat and settled. I waved at my hubby and the bus moved on. I was facing the opposite direction which I dislike to a great extent. I got the ticket, very consciously I picked up Rs.62 to which th conductor said in a pretty much sense voice '69 Madam' ! Just a few weeks back it was 62 and today it's 69! I wondered how the price of everything just keeps raising. Which govt are we under! So inside the bus, I tried hard to resist my fingers from fidgeting with my smart phone. My eyes moved from the window to the people seated inside the bus, it seemed like all of them were very busy looking at their smart phones! At least seats right beside me were with their headsets on and eyes closed as if asleep. One lady really like a Sleeping Beauty. Meanwhile, I felt a few eyes were just staring at me from the upper deck. All of the people, seemed to be from the IT background! Backpacks, Tupperware bags a smart phone, mostly dressed like professionals, neither too modern nor too traditional.. The fusion seemed more common among the women. Nobody much spoke to one another. Nobody seemed related, yet the whole crowd seemed to come from the same breed. Well, I felt, I was like them once upon a time. No, fyi - now I wasn't one among them, I was on my way traveling to the passport office. Not to any IT park like the others! It was nice to see happy faces with seat, sleepy faces, very smart and handsome faces, the few faces hidden behind their burkha with only eyes visible. A few full of make up faces. No one smiled even for formality. Overheard couple of interesting phone conversations. An old man nervous about a ticket and concerned about his managers reaction. Another young man, probably had his wife and kids in his hometown was asking 'avan eldiruchutana, saptacha?' , while his wife complained that something went wrong for which he confirmed that 'it went wrong, when I was there last weekend itself' :). With another very traditionally dressed south Indian old lady with jasmine flowers. She looked a little different from the rest of the crowd, to me she looked lovely and pretty. The journey is soon coming to an end for me today. Hope I get to write more as I travel across. I am happy to be a part of this journey for the time being only. I just realized I am not interested in this world which is so loud and yet no one is talking to you. This world is connected more thru smart phones and not otherwise.. Even the wind is artificial. Ending this post with lyrics of lovely melodious music on my ears shutting myself from the crowd outside!
